Letter to Mrs. Dille

Dear Mrs. Dille,

The thing I did not know at the beginning of the semester that I know now because of my reading, writing, and thinking in this course is how to write an appropriate argument essay. I’m really glad that we learned this skill and I thank you very much for it. My approach to writing has changed during this course because at the beginning I would start my essays off by saying something that my not be correct. Now I am able to approach writing with confidence because of you. I’m really glad you have helped me with this. My approach to reading has not changed very much during this course just because I don’t love reading, but I’ll do it occasionally and I think I’ll stay like that for the rest of my life. I’ll read about 4 or 5 books a year which is not that bad in my opinion.

My attitudes about writing have changed this semester for sure. At the beginning of the year I didn’t really like to write essays that much; it didn’t really interest me. Now I can write a three to four page essay on a certain topic if it interests me. My attitudes toward reading have slightly changed. In the way that I know how to find the right books to read and how to find the ones that will interest me throughout the entire thing. The piece of writing I am most proud about was the essay I wrote on Gregg Abbott’s victory speech. The reason I am so proud is because I really the way I worded things and even though it might not be the best essay I still am really proud of it because it shows all of my improvements over the semester.

The way I would characterize myself as a reader is someone that likes to do it if I find something that interests me. As a writer, I am the  kind of person who would just start writing until I have no clue what else to write about. In this class I feel like my performance was pretty good overall. I like the essays I have written and like the way I have improved. The things I would do differently if I took this class again is I would just try extra hard to make better essays. My goals for next semester is to just do better in this class and try and make all A’s if I work extra hard. The only way I think we could improve this class is if you put classwork and assignments on the Crockett website.

I really bad memory I have is when I was seven years old and I was with my sisters and their friends. We were in my sisters room and they were about to start watching “The Ring” which would be a very scary movie for a seven year old. The movie was beginning and I was thinking to myself, “I’m not scared!”, but in reality I was scared for my life. The movie wasn’t that back during the beginning and then we got to the part where the man watches the tape. At this part the little girl that died in the well comes out of it and will walk toward the screen and come out of the TV. Once she came out of the TV I felt like she came out of the TV I was watching on so I ran out of the room as fast as I could and went to my mom.

My sister just graduated from the best university in Texas! I’m so proud of her and glad to say that she’s my sister. When I was on my way to the Frank Erwin Center I was having many thoughts about her. I was excited and overall very proud of her.

Weekly Blog #5 (The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor)

She demands that they leave so they do; they hop on some motorcycles and drive off to the country side. The group gets to a rest stop and stays at a plantation house. They want to leave soon because winter is coming, but one day a group of drug addicts come in and tell them to leave. They are held hostage for a while and then negotiate with them and say that if they let them go, they could have the house. The gang starts to fire at them as they are leaving and they end up in a fire fight. Penny mistakes a gang member for her father and she gets shot. She dies in the arms of Brian and Phillip. Brian was assigned to protect her by Phillip and so Phillip ends up savagely beating Brian. That’s a very brutal way to handle the situation; I don’t understand why he becomes so aggressive. They end up escaping and while driving away their car brakes down forcing them to walk on foot. While they are walking they find a town called “Woodbury” with some survivors in it.

Phillip is forced to go through a large amount of zombies with his large vehicle and barely makes it out. His car spins out of control and he is forced to again go on foot. In this situation, I would be terrified to have to go on my journey of foot. Possibly having the infected pop out on you at any giving moment. Phillip is a brave man and hopefully stays alive throughout the rest of this book. As they are running through the back alleys they are rescued by April Chalmers, being taken her families house where it’s safe. It’s a good thing that April found them or they might have been infected by the zombies. The family consists of the father David and his two daughters April and Tara. In the rest of this part Phillip Blake begins to become more violent and easily angered. David ends up dying from lung cancer and turns in a walker. He try’s to bite Tara, but before he can Phillip kills him. Tara begins to develop harsh feelings toward Phillip.Phillip begins to get feelings for Tara as well and they begin to have a romantic relationship. But here’s the twist, while they are out scavenging some supplies Phillip ends up raping Tara. The next morning April goes missing and so Tara freaks out and points a gun at Phillip, Nick, Penny, and Brian.

As of now, I’m really tired and I’m probably gonna go to sleep soon. I’m listening to country music because it helps me go to sleep and I like it. I don’t understand rap music, it has no meaning to it and is pointless to listen to. Country music is where it’s at if you want to have meaning in the music that goes into your ears. But anyways, I’m gonna go to sleep because this country music is really doing the trick. Goodnight

I am really excited for the next semester! I am going to start baseball season and it feels like it’s going to be a great one. I’ve been practicing every day and always trying to get better. I eventually want to have a starting position on Varsity as a second baseman. This is what I have wanted since I was a tiny freshmen.
